Window Resize Manager is a local-first Chrome extension for reading current Chrome window and viewport dimensions, then resizing the current normal Chrome browser window from a toolbar popup using built-in presets, locally saved custom presets, or manually entered dimensions.
Single Purpose
Window Resize Manager exists to help users inspect and resize the current Chrome browser window. It does not provide accounts, cloud synchronization, advertising, team workspaces, billing, content inspection, or background website monitoring.
Data Collection
Window Resize Manager does not collect, sell, share, transfer, or remotely store user-created presets, recent custom dimensions, selected resize mode, the My presets, built-in Presets card, and individual preset-group visibility preferences, viewport measurements, window dimensions, or inspected-page data. Those values stay local to the user's browser.
The extension does not use advertising, accounts, cloud synchronization, crash reporting, session replay, surveys, heatmaps, or autocapture.
Both Chrome build variants send explicit, cookieless usage analytics to the first-party https://e.glechyan.com endpoint. This endpoint is a managed reverse proxy that forwards events through Cloudflare to PostHog EU Cloud. The extension does not fall back to PostHog's direct ingestion endpoint. PostHog documents that the managed proxy does not cache request content or retain request logs. These events measure popup opens, resize requests and outcomes, custom preset actions, and resize target setting changes, plus clicks on the popup's rating and feedback actions and impressions and clicks for its static extension recommendations. Analytics properties are limited to enum values, booleans, and low-cardinality buckets such as build variant, preset count, dimension size, duration, result, bounded failure category, source extension, target extension, and placement. Rating and feedback click events contain only the existing build variant; cross-promotion events identify only the source extension, recommended extension, and footer placement. They do not include a rating value, email content, or destination URL.
The PostHog SDK runs in server-hash cookieless mode and does not store an analytics identity in cookies, local storage, or session storage. Every event explicitly disables GeoIP enrichment. The PostHog project discards client IP addresses before storage and applies an ingestion filter for country, city, coordinates, timezone, postal code, continent, and subdivision properties. These controls prevent IP addresses and derived location data from being stored on new events.
There is no user-facing analytics setting in either build.
Analytics Exclusions
Analytics events do not include page content, selected text, full page URLs, tab titles, cookies, website localStorage, form data, browsing history, account data, preset names, exact custom dimensions, raw error messages, stable personal identifiers, authentication data, financial data, health data, personal communications, or location data.
Historical events collected before these controls were enabled are governed by the existing PostHog retention configuration. This release does not delete, rewrite, or backfill historical events.
Local Data Storage
The extension stores only user-created window presets, up to three latest custom dimensions, the selected resize target mode, whether the My presets and built-in Presets cards and individual preset groups are expanded, and versioned first-launch onboarding progress in Chrome extension storage on the user's device. This data is used only to show saved presets, refill recent custom dimensions, apply the user's selected resize behavior, restore the saved visibility preferences, and keep the one-time onboarding checklist in sync with toolbar-popup actions.
Uninstalling the extension removes its Chrome extension storage according to Chrome's normal extension data behavior.
Page Access
Window Resize Manager does not read page content, selected text, full page URLs, cookies, website localStorage, form data, browsing history, authentication data, financial data, health data, personal communications, or location data.
On regular HTTP and HTTPS websites, a packaged content script listens for window resize events and automatically adds an isolated live measurement overlay without requiring the toolbar popup to be opened. The overlay creates only its own interface elements, reads numeric outerWidth, outerHeight, innerWidth, and innerHeight values, and updates them locally while the page receives resize events. To keep frame and viewport values comparable at page zoom levels other than 100%, it sends a fixed measurement-context request to the extension service worker. Chrome supplies the sender's tab ID, and the worker returns only that tab's numeric page zoom factor. The request includes no page data, and neither the tab ID nor zoom factor is stored or transmitted. The content script does not inspect existing page content or elements. The overlay displays the packaged extension icon, provides an Open action for the toolbar popup, fades away two seconds after resize events stop, and reappears during the next resize. Only the packaged 32-pixel icon is declared as a web-accessible resource, using Chrome's per-session dynamic extension URL. No scripts or user data are exposed as web-accessible resources.
Viewport size mode also uses a one-shot numeric viewport measurement to calculate the outer Chrome window size needed for the requested viewport. Chrome blocks these script-based behaviors on browser-internal, extension, and other restricted pages. Measurements are not stored or sent anywhere.
Permissions
The extension requests only the permissions needed for implemented behavior:

The extension does not request optional host permissions, DevTools APIs, or broad tab access. Both build variants' only automatic remote destination is the documented first-party usage analytics proxy endpoint.
User-Triggered External Actions
The popup includes an always-visible feedback card. Rate extension opens the Window Size Manager listing on the Chrome Web Store, and Send feedback opens the user's email app with mailto:gevorg@glechyan.com. These destinations open only after the user selects the corresponding action. The extension does not prefetch either destination, receive the submitted rating, or read or transmit the user's email subject or body.
At the end of the popup, More tools links to the verified Chrome Web Store listings for Screenshot Capture Studio and PostHog Debugger. These static links open only after the user selects one. The extension does not prefetch either listing, check the URLs at runtime, or send browsing or page data to them.
The onboarding page's Open getting-started guide link opens this project's public documentation only after the user selects it. The extension does not prefetch the guide or send onboarding progress with the request.
Remote Code
The extension does not load or execute remotely hosted extension code. The toolbar popup, background service worker, React bundle, dependencies, fonts, and icons are packaged inside the extension.
Children
Window Resize Manager is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
Window Resize Manager limits stored data to Chrome extension storage and limits remote transmission to the explicit cookieless analytics events described in this policy. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but the extension is designed to avoid collecting sensitive page, account, or browsing data.
Changes
Privacy-impacting changes, including new permissions, network destinations, analytics, content scripts, host access, or page-data access, must be documented in this policy before release.
